This was the third time we’ve played during the festivities, which include a silent auction, previews of upcoming dance pieces and much good cheer. We also got to enjoy the music of The Basso Moderno Duo, who performed live during some of the dances and also performed during some of the breaks. This year we found ourselves in this beautiful gallery filled with works of glass; some cast, others blown, and some just collections of found glass arranged in an interesting way. At first, we were nervous that the frequencies from our speakers were going to shatter everything around us. Hahaha. Imagine that! If the total value of the works weren’t in the millions, it would actually be fun to have it all shatter around us.

We had just seen Tones from the Underground perform outdoors during the Make Music New York Festival, and we really wanted to do an outdoor show before the summer was over (those in New York know how swiftly the summers disappear). Fresh Start had recently opened up an outdoor area, so we decided to give them a try. We had a lot of fun goofing off with everyone in the breeze, with a group of cute kids yelling at us from a nearby rooftop. Jacob Gossett was there filming some stuff for a video he was making for our song Little Life. You can go watch the video if you’d like, it’s on our video page. He did a good job. Everyone at Fresh Start was great and were really inviting to us and our friends.

A lot of his friends came out this night, as well as many of our pals. The main thing I (Lindsey) remember is the Christmas lights behind us. They were throwing off an eerie light, and I felt like I was swimming in it.

We both are co-directors with Kyla Barkin and Ginger Burden and we spend months planning them out. This feast, Brain Dance, was a smash hit. We decided to hold the event in Brooklyn, at Grand Space, versus our usual borough of Manhattan. It was a good choice. Grand Space was huge and allowed us much more room for the installations and separation of the areas for music, dance, interaction and the Creative Lounge. Plus, they had great furniture and decorations for us to use. Some pieces from our Genetics: A Visual Songbook project were on display and it was cool to see them from the stage, while we were playing. So, that brings us to the music. We played a sort of DJ, performance set, using pre-recorded beats and sound beds over which to perform wierd songs and interludes. Bill created a wild video that was projected on the wall behind the dance floor. We also enjoyed a performance from Tones from the Underground, featuring Thomas Mullarney. Aye Baybay! Then, after the Jamscape, the party ended with a group jam. Good times! Much thanks to Brian Gefter from HiFi Marketing for the free liquor.

I also snuck in some of the songs that will appear on Agua Trips next Album. Although it was a fun to perform alone for a change, I look forward to having Lindsey and Mark share the stage with me next month.

It’s been exactly 6 months since our first show together (Sept. 06), and you can feel the difference! The night couldn’t have been more perfect either – that is, for a March in New New York. As usual, we were really glad to see our friends & fans and all the new faces who stayed to listen to the music. it’s always nice to be the background music for someone’s birthday party too (whoever that was). Happy birthday.

The night was yet another was glorious contribution to the beautiful saga of Agua Trip at Pangea. When all is said and done, these will be the sweetest of memories and we will dance joyfully in the fields of our mental taste buds. Although these shows may blur together in our future recollections, our hearts will be forever warmed and lightened by the delicate footprints they have left oh so so gently on our musical souls. This IS the essence of our existence, henceforth and hithertofore, notwithstanding nor withsitting May all the flowers of Spring bend their petals in loving admiration of songs gone by and in sweet anticipation of music yet to come! Praise to Zeus and Poseidon!
