Back in 2008, Robert Carrasco, Bill’s brother and a vocalist featured on both In Every Direction and Amor y frijoles, produced a video of himself skateboarding to send to a friend. Agua Trip and Modern Dance: Shell Shocked

Agua Trip has always the enjoyed the world of modern dance, and has been lucky enough to be a part of the scene in New York, whether while performing at numerous Benefits for Isabel Gotzkowsky and Friends or by co-directing The Moveable Feast series of art parties. Now, we are proud to add to that list another accomplishment; providing the music to Shell Shocked by the Barkin/Selissen Project.

In Shell Shocked, Barkin/Selissen Project chose to use Ubatuba and Sleep Trips and Falls from our album Genetics as a musical backdrop to their exploration of the different aspects of people’s short and long term responses to traumatic events.

You can watch an excerpt of Shell Shocked on Vimeo. Ubatuba starts at the 5:20 mark. I would suggest watching the whole thing though, it’s pretty interesting.

The Central Park Zoo – Barnard/Columbia Orientation: Sept. 3 2009 AD (Photos and Video)

We just had a great time at the Central Park Zoo playing for sea lions, ducks, geese, penguins, puffins, monkeys and the new students of Barnard College and Columbia University (the wildest of the animals). The students were cool and enjoying the beautiful evening air. The DJ (Nico) was really nice and queued up some surprising song choices and everyone went bonkers. We also unloaded 200 free CDs as a gift to the future alumni, something to listen to while sharpening their wits.

We also want to thank the musicians who played with us: James Guastaferro (guitar, bass, percussion & vocals) and Chris Johnson (guitar, bass, percussion & vocals).

This brings back some old memories!

In 2001 there was a band called ¿Threat? which featured our pal Professor Rockwell fulfilling the DJing duties. We were at his hacienda in Brooklyn (a.k.a Spencer Street Cinemas) hanging with the Professor and Jules, the accordion-wielding lyricist, and happened to record this impromptu jam. For some reason, Lindsey’s mandolin part wasn’t recorded, which he regrets very much because, of course, he felt that it was brilliant. You can hear Bill chucking and riffing on guitar, Professor Rockwell on the tables, our at-that-era bassman Andrew Cooper, and Jules on improvisational wordage.

It’s loose and rough, but a gas to listen to.

Well, here is a fun gem of a workmix we made when recording that song. It was a way for us to hear ourselves and review before we mixed them together and panned them hard left and right.
