The students were cool and enjoying the beautiful evening air. The DJ (Nico) was really nice and queued up  some surprising song choices and everyone went bonkers. We also unloaded 200 free CDs as a gift to the future alumni, something to listen to while sharpening their wits.

The event was also the unveiling of the first Agua Trip book project, Genetics: A Visual Songbook, designed by our good friend Esther L. Kim. There was also an exhibition of all the original pieces of art included in the book, which were graciously donated to the Fundraiser by 20 international artists. There was also a Silent Auction, giving all the attendees the opportunity to own a piece of this beautiful and historic collaboration.

CONNECT was there in full force, organizing a raffle with astounding prizes, decorating the stage with beautiful saris, supplying really tasty food, and talking about their work, which you can read about at connectnyc.org

We want to thank all of CONNECT’s staff and friends for coming out to the event and supporting our music. We want to thank all of Agua Trip’s friends, old and new, who brought us their smiles. We always appreciate the friendship and support. We want to thank Devon at Sage Theater. We want to thank Tom for taking on the monumental task of running our sound on such short notice. This was the third time we’ve played during the festivities, which include a silent auction, previews of upcoming dance pieces and much good cheer. We also got to enjoy the music of The Basso Moderno Duo, who performed live during some of the dances and also performed during some of the breaks. This year we found ourselves in this beautiful gallery filled with works of glass; some cast, others blown, and some just collections of found glass arranged in an interesting way. At first, we were nervous that the frequencies from our speakers were going to shatter everything around us. Hahaha. Imagine that! If the total value of the works weren’t in the millions, it would actually be fun to have it all shatter around us.

We are pleased to announce the official release of our new album Genetics with a Concert-Fundraiser-Party on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, 7pm-11pm at Sage Theater* in Times Square. We have organized event to raise funds for the production of the album and for CONNECT (www.connectnyc.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to ending violence against women. Twenty artists have each donated a work of art to be auctioned off at the party. A Visual Songbook with their art and the lyrics from Genetics will also be available. Come enjoy a concert, a beautiful display of artwork, and much more.

We had just seen Tones from the Underground perform outdoors during the Make Music New York Festival, and we really wanted to do an outdoor show before the summer was over (those in New York know how swiftly the summers disappear). Fresh Start had recently opened up an outdoor area, so we decided to give them a try. We had a lot of fun goofing off with everyone in the breeze, with a group of cute kids yelling at us from a nearby rooftop. Jacob Gossett was there filming some stuff for a video he was making for our song Little Life. You can go watch the video if you’d like, it’s on our video page. He did a good job. Everyone at Fresh Start was great and were really inviting to us and our friends.
